Where are your leather goods made? Most of our in-store items are handmade in Worthington, Ohio. We also source handmade leather goods from artisans and production partners in Ohio and beyond. What type of leather do you use? Where does your leather come from? We use only genuine top grain cowhide in our products, in a range of thicknesses, colors, and finishes. We do not use exotic leathers or bonded leather products. Leather is bought and sold through a worldwide market, so it’s not always possible to identify where a hide originated or was tanned. Most of our leather is sourced from North and South American cattle, tanned either in the USA or South America. Do you make custom bags or do custom work? Our focus is building and selling leather goods based on our own designs. We develop and refine our patterns and techniques over time to ensure that they are functional and make sense from a production standpoint. We have found that custom work outside of these parameters takes away our ability to keep the store stocked and serve our customers. Do you do repairs? We'd be happy to repair/refresh any product purchased from us. We realize our customers also have repair needs for other leather products. Repair work takes away our ability to keep the store stocked and serve our customers. Shoe repair and tailoring businesses are uniquely set up for this type of work, and we appreciate your understanding if we refer you to another business for repairs. Will you make me anything I want? It takes time and materials to design and produce a new item. Our process starts with concepts and drawings, moves to paper and then leather patterns, and finally into production. Starting a new project from scratch takes a lot more time than building an item we have already developed. The loss of revenue from these types of projects erodes our business and makes it hard to keep our store stocked and the rest of our customers happy. Why are your bags so simple? Factory-made bags and purses can represent 20 or more man-hours of work. The low wages paid to factory workers allow for complex construction of the pockets, dividers, and accessories found in many modern bags. Our designs are simple, functional, and durable, but we don’t offer complex factory-style construction. Will you copy an existing design? Can I bring you a bag to copy? Nope. We offer many styles of bags in our store. Totes, Messenger Bags, Backpacks, Handbags, and more. We believe there is enough business to go around, so if you don’t see what you like, we won’t be offended if you buy elsewhere. |
